Ingrid Skovgaard works mainly with video art, but also with different medias such as performance, photography, printmaking, sculptural installation, printmaking., drawing and sound.

Her artwork reflects a very physical, yet sensuous approach towards the themes and media she deals with. She moves close and exposes the poetic, beauty, and humor of life’s brutality and rawness leaves in its imprint and effect. She addresses various themes like emotional and religious/spiritual conflicts, idendity, gender, urbanity, beauty and natural forces. Often she lets enormous contrasts meet when she focuses on the detail and at the same time let the viewer get a glimpse of the universal whole.

Her methodology of her discourses is mainly rooted in a kinesthetic understanding- a bodily understanding in the relationship to life and world. An exploration of the body as the bearer and testimony of history, culture and social relationships. The body as the tensional space between ones inner emotional life and the culture that surrounds us.
